You can mirror or extend your Mac's display to AirServer using AirPlay, which is built into macOS. No additional software is required on the Mac.


Before you start

  • Make sure AirServer is running on your Windows PC or AirServer Connect device. If you're using AirServer for Mac as the receiver, it should be running on a different Mac than the one you're mirroring from.
  • Connect your Mac to the same Wi-Fi network as the device running AirServer. On AirServer Connect, you can also join the Guest Hotspot if it is enabled.

How to mirror your Mac's display

The steps depend on which macOS version you're running.


  • macOS Monterey (12) and later
  1. Open Control Center from the menu bar.
  2. Click Screen Mirroring.
  3. Select your AirServer device from the list.
  4. If prompted, enter the AirPlay password shown on the AirServer screen.
  • macOS Big Sur (11) and earlier
  1. Click the AirPlay icon in the menu bar.
  2. Select your AirServer device from the list.
  3. If prompted, enter the AirPlay password shown on the AirServer screen.

If you don't see the AirPlay icon in the menu bar, you can enable it in System Preferences → Displays.

How to extend your Mac's display instead of mirroring

By default, connecting to AirServer mirrors your Mac's display. To use AirServer as a separate extended display instead:


  • On macOS Ventura (13) and later
  1. Open Control Center and click Screen Mirroring.
  2. Select your AirServer device from the list. Your Mac will mirror by default.
  3. Click Change in the Screen Mirroring dialog.
  4. Select Extended Display, then click Extend Display.

macOS remembers your choice, so future connections will default to whichever mode you selected last.


  • On macOS Big Sur (11) and Monterey (12)
  1. Click the AirPlay icon in the menu bar (or open Control Center → Screen Mirroring on Monterey).
  2. Select your AirServer device.
  3. Click the AirPlay icon again and select Use As Separate Display.

How to stop mirroring

Open Control Center (or the AirPlay menu bar icon on older macOS), select Screen Mirroring, and click your connected AirServer device to disconnect.

If AirServer doesn't appear in the list 

If you do not see the AirPlay icon, or your computer is not showing, visit the troubleshooting section for AirServer Universal, AirServer Windows 10 Desktop Edition or AirServer for Mac.
